SOUTH JERSEY HOMESCHOOL TRACK CLUB NEWS

The Patriots

All of our runners are doing a fantastic job. They give their best at our practices. It is such a blessing to see them get stronger and faster each month. Some of our team members are stepping out into community competitions, with impressive results.

In early October, Matt McBride and John Laberee participated in the Cherokee Cross Country competition in Marlton, NJ at Cherokee High School. They ran a strong race against seasoned cross-country runners. At the end of the 2.1 miles, Laberee and Mc Bride had both placed square in the middle of the pack ….. a very nice job for their first time running this race.

On November 4th, Silas Wood represented the South Jersey Homeschool Track Club and ran the Lumberton 5K. He placed 3rd in his age range and did an awesome job on his first 5K!

That same weekend, Gabriella Wood and John Laberee participated in the USATF Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships. After demonstrating their speed and endurance, they were invited to join the Medford Township team, since our South Jersey Homeschool Track Club did not have enough distance runners to send a team to this competition. (But, just wait ‘till next year!) The top five scores at the USATF races are used to determine a team’s place for this 3K. Well, both Wood (13:01) and Laberee (12:26) had one of the top five times on their respective teams. The girls midget team took first place! The boys midget team took 2nd place!

Finally, both Wood and Laberee were invited to join the Medford X-Country team at the AAU X-Country Regional Championships on 11/18/06. Laberee took ill and could not participate, but Wood ran a superb race with the Medford girls team proving (after only three months of track) that she’s got what it takes!! Both the boys and the girls teams qualified for Nationals!!

Praise God for these successes . Look for more exciting news from the South Jersey Homeschool Track Club in the future. These kids are just warming up!

SJHTC Patriots rocks!
